The Offshoot Integral Coaching Model
In the Offshoot Integral Coaching approach, the individual is like a fully grown tree: grounded, resilient, and expansive, capable of navigating challenges while branching out to create a lasting impact and personal well-being. As the metaphor of the tree suggests, the Offshoot Integral Coaching model is described as follows:
- Roots (Grounding): The individual’s foundation, including values, history, strengths, and identity, representing self-awareness.
- Trunk (Stabilising & Grounding): The current self-demonstrating stability and resilience, embodying core skills.
- Branches (Expansion): Different life domains like career and relationships, inner world, and structures of support, illustrating balanced expansion.

About Heidi Villa-Vicencio
I am the Founder and Managing Director of Mthente Research and Consulting Services. With over 20 years of experience, I am passionate about helping professionals unlock their potential and create meaningful impact. I hold an MBA from Warwick University and am a certified coach, having completed my Professional Certified Coach (PCC) training at the Centre of Coaching, Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town. Additionally, I am accredited by the International Coaching Federation. These qualifications, combined with my practical experience, equip me with the valuable skills to effectively support those I work with.
My career began shortly after I earned my Master’s degree when I took on the role of Senior Case Manager at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration (CCMA). This position has provided me with valuable insights into workplace dynamics and the importance of conflict resolution skills. It has also improved my systematic awareness and my ability to guide leaders through complex interpersonal issues with fairness and clarity. These skills are essential for coaching leaders, professionals, and executives, as they promote clarity, resilience, and confidence in navigating complex situations.
Afterward, I spent five years in the UK working as a senior consultant while pursuing my MBA. Upon returning to South Africa in 2005, I founded Mthente Research and Consulting Services, a boutique research and consultancy firm. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with various clients, including Old Mutual, Sea Harvest, Capitec Bank, Engen, Sanlam, the Parliament of South Africa, the Department of Small Business Development, Oxfam, the Mott Foundation, and World Vision.
Offshoot Coaching, a natural extension of Mthente, symbolises both continuity and growth. Built on strong foundations, it expands to create new opportunities — providing leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs with a space to broaden their vision, thrive in their purpose, and unlock their full potential.

With decades of experience in leadership development and coaching, I help my coachees overcome self-doubt, navigate complexity, and step into their next chapter with resilience and focus. I have supported executives in reaching higher levels of leadership, guided women—particularly in emerging markets—to break barriers and thrive authentically, and partnered with entrepreneurs to make confident decisions that promote sustainable growth. I also assist professionals at career crossroads or during mid-life transitions, helping them find clarity and direction so they can move forward with renewed energy and purpose. At its core, my coaching ignites potential, builds self-belief, and cultivates leaders who embody resilience, authenticity, and integrity. I help them embrace their roles with true impact and presence.
On a personal level, my experience as a sole caregiver has profoundly shaped how I show up as a coach. It has taught me the importance of resilience, authenticity, and compassion—qualities I bring to every coaching relationship. I also find purpose in working with organizations that address issues like addiction and homelessness, which has given me a genuine appreciation for the courage needed to grow and transform. Outside of coaching, I find inspiration and recharge by taking nature walks, sitting by the ocean, and listening to its calming rhythm, or dancing to my favorite 80s music.
